On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as a Public Health Emergency of International Concerns (PHEIC). As of 4 February, the virus has impacted over 47,000 people living in China, claiming the lives of almost 500 people.
The Government of China is taking comprehensive measures to control and minimize the impact of the virus, however, since this is a new coronavirus, more concentrated efforts are needed to combat the outbreak. This public health emergency requires global and coordinated efforts. We believe, that through the demonstration of solidarity and cooperation, we can all come together to address this crisis collectively.
Currently, many communities in China, especially in Hubei province, suffer from the lack of availability of medical supplies such as masks (ordinary and medical), surgical latex gloves, hand sanitizer, medical protective clothing, and medical goggles. Those items are crucial in curbing the spread of the virus.
The Finance Centre for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC), with the support of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), kindly ask for your generous donation of the above items. Your donations will be most appreciated by the people of Hubei and can assist in halting the spread of the virus.
The FCSSC will ensure the logistical arrangements to send the donated medical supplies to impacted communities and local hospitals. Due to the urgency of the request, we kindly ask you to make your donations from now through 28 February 2020.
