Solution impact

FortyGuard’s solution generates significant economic, social, and environmental impacts by providing cities with the tools to effectively mitigate urban heat. Economically, our system enables cities and businesses to reduce cooling energy demand by up to 15%, translating to lower energy costs for municipalities, businesses, and residents. These savings also alleviate strain on energy infrastructure, freeing resources for other essential services. The economic benefits extend to increased productivity, as reduced urban heat supports better working conditions and enhances outdoor activities, particularly in heat-vulnerable areas.

Socially, our solution addresses the pressing public health challenges posed by extreme heat. By reducing ambient temperatures by up to 6°C in targeted areas, FortyGuard improves urban livability and reduces the incidence of heat-related illnesses, particularly among vulnerable populations such as the elderly, outdoor workers, and children. Enhanced comfort in public spaces fosters greater social equity by ensuring that all residents, regardless of socio-economic status, can benefit from safer and more enjoyable environments.

Environmentally, FortyGuard’s interventions promote long-term sustainability by reducing urban heat islands, lowering CO? emissions, and restoring ecological balance. Projects such as Masdar City Eco Plaza and Anantara Eastern Mangroves showcase how our data-driven approach can guide the implementation of green infrastructure, high-albedo materials, and water features to improve biodiversity and reduce surface and ambient temperatures. These efforts align directly with global climate goals, contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and fostering resilience to the impacts of climate change.

The impacts of our solution are estimated through a combination of data analysis and field measurements. For example, reductions in surface and ambient temperatures are measured using IoT sensors and satellite data, while energy savings are calculated based on pre- and post-intervention cooling demand. Social impacts are assessed through surveys and health statistics, tracking improvements in public health and quality of life. Environmental benefits are quantified by measuring reductions in CO? emissions and increases in green cover.

Over the next three years, FortyGuard aims to expand into more than 200 cities, benefiting an estimated 3 million users, including urban planners, governments, and developers. With a projected reduction of surface temperatures by 5-6°C in these cities, our solution is expected to generate significant economic, social, and environmental value, creating a sustainable and livable future for urban populations worldwide.

Replicability / scalability

FortyGuard’s solution is highly replicable and scalable, designed to adapt to the unique urban and climatic conditions of cities worldwide.
