On June 26, 2018 the Commonwealth Secretariat based in London, United Kingdom, officially approved the accreditation of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS). The Accreditation was approved by the Commonwealth Board of Governors. As a result of the accreditation, the Commission has become part of a large network of accredited civil society and professional organizations. The accreditation shall enable COMSATS and its member countries to explore avenues for collaboration with Commonwealth, which include research and development projects within the network of Commonwealth’s accredited organizations. Some of the priority areas of COMSATS and Commonwealth cooperation will include Science, Technology and Innovation, Sustainable Development and Climate Change.
