IFAD is pleased to announce the conclusion of the process of the first call for proposals under the China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) Facility.
As a result of the first call for proposals which was launched on 18 June 2018, 27 proposals were submitted for consideration by the Facility’s Advisory Panel and the Ministry of Finance of China. The result was the approval of 8 proposals out of the 27 for a total amount of about US$ 3.6 million.
These 8 project proposals are well spread across all geographic regions, with two in Asia, two in Africa, and one each in the Latin America and Caribbean and in Near East, North Africa and Europe Regions. In addition, the 8 projects cover a broad range of subjects, from water conservation to rural youth innovations, from rural business-to-business linkages to bamboo production and transformation. All these subjects are of particular interest to SSTC since they involve innovations pioneered in the Global South.
Established in February 2018, the China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation Facility is the first one in IFAD dedicated to SSTC. Its goal is to exchange expertise, knowledge and resources, and promote business-to-business links and investments across developing countries, with the broad aim of enhancing agricultural productivity, incomes, and livelihoods of poor people living in rural areas.
