6 September 2019 | WFP Headquarters Auditorium (Rome)
For the third consecutive year, the Rome-based Agencies (RBAs) jointly celebrated the 2019 United Nations Day for South-South Cooperation. Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Food Programme (WFP), the event will took place on 6 September 2019, from 10.30 to 12.30 at WFP Headquarters (Rome).
The RBA event, which featured voices from the field and host governments, showcased country needs and country-led experiences, and highlighted key take-away messages for the RBAs from “BAPA+40”. While the RBAs have been supporting South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) for years, the event shed light on some concrete examples from the field that speak to the above theme, such as RBA-facilitated SSTC to promote family farming, empower rural women to better access market opportunities, and create opportunities for rural youth.
