NEW YORK (26 September 2025): Ambassador and Director General of the Morocco Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), H.E. Mr. Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of AMCI, and United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) Director, Ms. Dima Al-Khatib, met on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York, underscoring their commitment to strengthen strategic partnership between their institutions.
Their aim is to jointly advance South-South and triangular cooperation by fostering strategic partnerships, strengthening institutional frameworks and supporting capacity development under the United Nations Fund for South-South Cooperation’s Triangular Cooperation Window. In the course of their discussions, a Statement of Intent (SoI) was formalized, with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Methqal signing on behalf of AMCI, and Ms. Al-Khatib representing UNOSSC.
“Guided by the Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco is committed to promote South-South cooperation, based on the principles of solidarity, mutual respect and co-development, by sharing experiences and expertise in all our joint projects, programs, and initiatives,” said H.E. Mr. Mohamed Methqal.
“UNOSSC looks forward to collaborating with Morocco to operationalize the new Statement of Intent, focusing on, for example, digital transformation, food security, renewable energy, climate action, women’s empowerment, and heritage preservation,” said UNOSSC Director Dima Al-Khatib.
United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) is mandated by the General Assembly to promote, coordinate and support South-South and triangular cooperation globally and within the United Nations system.
Morocco Agency For International Cooperation (AMCI), since its establishment in 1986 and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates as well as in partnership with relevant ministerial departments, public and private institutions and civil society, has played a key role in strengthening the Kingdom of Morocco’s international cooperation.
