Recognizing the vast repository of knowledge available in the Global South on good practices in South-South and triangular cooperation and lessons learned that can be shared with a variety of stakeholders to learn and benefit from, the United Nations Office of South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) produces a series of good practices publications which highlights Southern initiatives presented by Member States, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and other development partners.
To this end, UNOSSC and the Brazil Africa Institute (IBRAF) have collaborated on a thematic good practices publication titled “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the Context of Food Security” which presents 40 good practices on agriculture and food security from the global South. These good practices highlight innovative enterprises that illustrate the central tenets of effective South-South and triangular cooperation; address transnational development challenges; solutions that have been piloted and scaled up; and have tangible development outcomes.
The publication presents notable solutions to crucial challenges faced by developing countries in the area of food security. The good practices gathered in this edition, which are also relevant to the unprecedented global health crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, aims to benefit developing countries seeking to scale up South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives, particularly in the widespread application of policies, strategies and programmes related to food security and agriculture.
