Strengthening South-South and Triangular Cooperation for People and Planet

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has released an important publication showcasing successful South-South and triangular cooperation initiatives focused on environmental protection and sustainable development. “Strengthening South-South and Triangular Cooperation for People and Planet“ highlights UNDP’s commitment to facilitating knowledge exchange and collaborative solutions between developing countries.

This analysis from UNDP Nature Hub presents seven distinct solutions that illustrate different applications of South-South and triangular cooperation approaches. All examples are being supported by UNDP Nature Pledge, contributing to global transformational shifts supporting the targets and goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Each of the seven examples includes the analysis of the thematic focus, countries engaged, cooperation activities, outcomes, and relevant UNDP Moonshots and Nature Pledge shifts. Each example also includes project information, tools and methodologies, and links to further resources.

It has been written for government policymakers and stakeholders from civil society and the private sector at all levels, UN agencies, funding partners, and other international organizations.

This collection demonstrates how South-South and triangular cooperation enables developing countries to share knowledge, technologies, and best practices that address biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental degradation while promoting sustainable development.
