The UN Climate Change Conference COP 25 (2 – 13 December 2019) is currently taking place under the Presidency of the Government of Chile and logistical support from the Government of Spain. The conference is designed to take the next crucial steps in the UN climate change process. Following agreement on the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement at COP 24 in Poland last year, a key objective is to complete several matters with respect to the full operationalization of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
Understanding the role of South-South and Triangular Cooperation is crucial to the discussion of how to tackle Climate Change and related issues. Therefore, the UNOSSC is pleased to be bringing, together with our partners, a number of side events that aim to bring SSC and TrC to the fore of the conversation, and promote debate.
The event “Achieving NDC Targets through the Bioeconomy and South-South and Triangular Cooperation“ is supported by the UNOSSC, the Center for Strategic Studies and Management, and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation. The side event will showcase how bioeconomy and successful South-South and triangular cooperation contribute to the achievement of NDC targets in developing countries. The UNOSSC publication developed with the CGEE “South-South And Triangular Cooperation On The Bioeconomy In Light Of The Paris Agreement And The 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development” will be launched and distributed at the event. The event takes place Monday, 9 December, 15:00-16:30 at COP25 in IFEMA.

The High-level Forum “South-South Cooperation on Climate Change“ is co-organized by the MEE China and UNOSSC. The even will take place on Wednesday 11 December, 14:00 to 17:30 at the China Pavilion at COP25
The side event “Bamboo as Substitute for Plastics to Combat Climate Change“ is organized by the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation. The event will be held Wednesday 11 December, 18:00 to 19:00 at the at the China Pavilion at COP25.
